The prototype of the steam-based CHP unit at work. The system contains the steam boiler with a 50kW wood pellet burner producing steam at 16 bar for the steam engine rotating the 5kW electric generator. Power electronics include the inverter and batteries. The control unit is a card computer Arduino based on the open-source software. The program contains more than 1000 lines.

As expected, the maximum electricity output is about 10% of heat energy.
